Never Leave Your Baby in the Car Unattended
Leaving a child alone in a car, even for a few minutes, is another very bad idea, as well as illegal in most states. Cars quickly heat up even in moderate weather to levels that are fatal for a child. This can happen even if you park in the shade or leave a window down.
Do Not Forget to Take Your Child Out of the Car
Every year babies die because their parents accidentally leave them in the back seat of the car. In their very busy lives, they simply forget they were there.
They may fail to remember to drop them off at day care, and go on to work and park, or some similar scenario. Instead of being safe and sound, they are left in a hot car, which often results in an unimaginable tragedy.
Here are some tips to make sure this does not happen to you:
- Always put your briefcase in the back next to the baby.
- Put the diaper bag in the front seat where it signals that there is a baby in the back.
- Arrange for your day care provider to call you if the baby is not dropped off by a designated time.
